Countdown 69 Day Election
California 39 days until early voting
UNRELATED GUILT
The guilty plea of the former FBI agent will be used by the Trump to paint a picture of the corrupt deep state that attempted overthrow the last election with the Russia hoax. This as well as the 17 errors found in documents that were found when close scrutiny of the FISA warrants issued monthly for those 125 known contacts Trump associates had with Russia.
Former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith pleaded guilty to a charge filed by John Durham as part of his investigation authorized by William Barr looking into the origins of the Russia investigation. The charge was that he falsified a document: He added his own words to another’s email and forwarded it up the line.
Clinesmith was collecting information to be used in the continued Justice department court granted surveillance of Carter Page. Carter Page was a Trump policy advisor and had lectured in Russia. Clinesmith on his own when he was pressed by his boss for certainty about Page and wither or not he was a source, and without going to the CIA of the for confirmation Clinesmith added words to an email. When he was pressed by his superiors for the decision added the words “and not a source.” At that time he had thought that was an accurate description of the situation. He knew at the time he had cut corners. Carter Page was never charged with a crime in the Russian investigation. His crime was the association with Trump.
Trump claimed of Clinesmith plea “So that is just the beginning”. “The fact is they spied on my campaign and they got caught. And you’ll be hearing more.” Fact is the Senate report already debunked any claim that there was no reason to monitor Carter Page. His contacts with Russians and his association with the campaign made him a suspect when combined with all the other contacts and meetings. This is old news; the only new news is Clinesmith’s indictment for the minor crime that had no bearing on the case.
In a December report on the origins of the investigation Justice Department’s Inspector General found 17 errors or omissions in the FBI warrant process, however, he found no evidence of bias or improper motives on the part of the agency.
Worse yet for Trump’s conspiracy theory is that the Clinesmith incident took place in 2017 after his election. It is even debatable that his conduct was a crime at all, considering it was his understanding at the time that what he had written was accurate. The statute Clinsmith is being accused is based on altering an official document. He had admitted that he had violated the statute that reads: “knowing the same to contain any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or entry.”
The same statute applies to the 17 other incidents and it will be difficult to prosecute anyone that makes an honest mistake in his efforts for justice. Will these be pursued with vigor only to fail in convictions? These incidents are all Trump has as proof of the “Deep State” and Obama spying on his campaign.
Between the Durham report to be dropped for maximum effect and the Senate report, I have a feeling Trump may just be tilting at windmills like Don Quixote. He is obviously preying on the party of stupid.
Republicans seem to investigate until they can make the outcome a tool for political purposes. Take the 11 or so Benghazi investigations, oh the horror of the Clinton emails, or lock her up mantra. He controls the Justice department. Where are the subpoenas for Clinton? Their investigations go nowhere.
At least the democrats don’t need to lie about an investigations outcome, as William Barr did with the Muller report. Nancy Pelosi got even with his impeachment for his own stupidity.
TRUMP AND EVIL
The Lincoln Project, a group of disgusted republicans, have aired anti-Trump political ads showing the real Trump with honest hard hitting facts. One of the latest ads show Jared Kushner as being downright evil using the pandemic politically, and potentially for the purpose of killing democrats.
The ad has quotes from a meeting of the President’s task force on the virus and one of the subjects discussed concerned test kits and testing.
In a Vanity Fair July 30th article with the subject the corona virus by Katherine Eban the article alleges Jared Kushner had a testing plan and it “went poof into thin air” The article goes on to say “This spring a team working under the presidents son-in-law produced a plan for an aggressive, coordinated national COVID-19 response that would have brought the pandemic under control. So why did the White House spike it in favor of a 50 state response?”
A meeting held at the White House on March 31, 2020 with Trump’s covid team, the following evil ensued. Jared had decided to ignore testing because the Covid-19 virus was only in states with democratic governors at that time. Kushner was quoted as saying “…because the virus had hit blue states hardest, a national plan was unnecessary….would not make sense politically” the article went on to say: “…they could blame those governors, and that would be effective political strategy.” The meeting looked like any other meeting with spread sheets and graphs. The article alleges that Kushner scrapped his own covid testing to make blue states suffer.
It was that policy decision that led to delays in testing, and the killing of more Americans than Pearl Harbor, Vietnam, September 11th and more Americans than World War I. All 178,000 within only 6 months. Was the action evil?
The notion that Trump had done all within his power in the beginning is laughable. Shedding the national responsibility for testing and politicizing the pandemic has been both intentional and shameful.
