TRUMP’S ELEPHANTS     

During the republican convention there were two elephants in the room the first is covid-19 pandemic. The second elephant was the racial disparity and the lack of equal justice with shooting and killing of unarmed black people.

The first elephant in the room was never fully discussed in the republican convention, one member of trump’s cabinet had spoken of the pandemic in the past tense. the Covid-19 pandemic that is raging across America with death rates higher than in the Spring.  “Things would be much worse if Biden were to be elected president” said Donald.  This ignores the USA Today January 27, 2020 where Joe Biden penned an editorial that said that Trump was ill prepared for a pandemic and went on to say the medical professionals are critical in making the decisions and not politicizing their efforts. 

Not to mention his Pontius Pilatus moment washing his hands and turning all of the responsibility over to the governors, after minimizing the virus and its impacts and ignoring the virus.  His task force on the virus went bumbling on testing for 2 ½ months and blaming the governors for their response when his prompt action could have saved 30.000-50000  lives and still counting.  Compare our death rate to the EU similar in size.

Melania Trump in her convention oratory said “My husband always tells the truth.”  In what world is she living?  I guess to her and his minions the truth is what the Donald says it is. The truth about the pandemic is whatever Trump says it is.  The truth about the economy is whatever he says it is, the truth about Article 2 powers in the Constitution and the law is whatever Donald and Barr say it is.

The second elephant was Trump who seemed out of step with what is happening around the country with the BLM protests and only acknowledged the Kenosha incident with the comment about only the democrat ran cities being overrun with violence and destruction. The underlying message was the movement will move into the Suburbs. Trump said about Kenosha “we can never have a situation where things are going on as they are today”  The convention was all blue lives matter and law and order and not necessary where the public is now?  Trump promised to end the carnage in the streets in 2016 if he were elected “only I can fix it” was his mantra then.  Now he is the one presiding over this dystopia.  Lighting little racial bonfires on a daily basis.  Not distancing himself from radical conspiracy theories, not denouncing right wing militia groups that provoke violence and white supremacists.

Today it is Donald Trump’s America and he is acting like he just wondered into the situation like has no responsibility to do anything about it. Trump is attempting projecting it on Biden at the same time sluffing off responsibility and again giving it over to the mayors and governors to handle. He has no responsibility for any democrat city?  Is he only the president for republicans?  Trump in 2016 promised only I can fix it, well after 3 ½ years it is still broken.  Is he out of touch?  In the Trumpism bubble racism does not exist and America is mostly privileged white, if you genuflect and supplicate before him you become a handy wipe and he will discard you after your usefulness.

A fact check on Mike Pence speech on Wednesday in his praise of policing, and the BLM protesters in Oakland and how the BLM protest led a protester to shoot and kill a DHS officer during those marches. Not letting the public know that the officer was shot by a right wing armed militiaman that shot the officer.  The individual used the BLM peaceful protest to intentionally shoot the officer to create havoc in an otherwise peaceful demonstration. Nice try Pence!
