TRUMP’s CONTINUED WAR ON SCIENCE
Both the CDC and the FDA again show themselves to be but a shadow of their former selves being overtaken by politicians in a public health crisis. The CDC routinely investigate outbreaks of any type as a normal course of prevention as their name suggests. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Trump had used the Defense Production Act to make meat packing an essential service that must remain open during the pandemic. The theme Trump lies people die again rears it’s head.
In early April of this year the CDC performed an investigation of the Covid-19 outbreak in the Smithfield packing plant in Sioux Falls South Dakoda. At the time it was the country’s biggest hot spot. At that time as many as 1,000 workers were infected of the 4,000 workers. As a result the CDC sent in an investigative team to study the outbreak. The CDC sent in an EPI-Aid team of experts to determine sources of outbreaks and give recommendations to neutralize the spread.
A report was produced by the CDC team dated April 21st the inspectors and had made significant recommendations which covered both the health and safety with strongly worded recommendations. The reports are normally stark and give exactly what needs to be adjusted to control the outbreak. They tell what to do and how to do it, except now with this report.
The Trump administration castrated and performed a briss at the same time to the report inserting may where shall where shall and should apply in recommendations. If possible and where it can be performed were also inserted. All the requirements listed by the report became recommendations . The report was altered and reissued with a new date of the 22nd . The language used to alter the original report was nothing like any other the EPI-Aid team had ever published. The report actually said: “These recommendations are discretionary and are not required or mandated by the CDC.” The language was like this “Consider the following actions to physically separate employees” or “portable handwashing facilities could be utilized” and “Stagger shifts, start times, and break times as much as feasible” and “Making unidirectional paths through facility, where possible” how about “Face coverings are generally recommended, if feasible, all employees should wear the face covering” another comment “The facial coverings should…be discarded and replaced when dirty or wet, if possible.” The watering down by the CDC report issued by Robert Redfield came after a call was made and he had spoken to Sonny Perdue head of the US Dept of Arg. (USDA). Changes for political purposes? Did hundreds of meat packers die as a result of watering down the language? It is one thing foe a corporation to rape and pillage the environment, it’s another to create death camps.
The Smithfield plant put out a statement concerning the safety of the facility: “We have implemented aggressive measures to protect our employees’ health and safety while safeguarding America’s food supply. In the midst of a pandemic, our brave team members have stood in the breach. It is unconscionable that we have–for the most part done it alone.
This is not the CDC or the CDC language the new report gives an out for the Meat Packers at the expense of the employees. When The Trump administration lies people die.
A new CDC testing guidance was published against scientists’ objections. In a heavily criticized recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last month about who should be tested for the coronavirus was not written by CDC scientists and was posted to the agency’s website despite their serious objections. The change comes after widespread criticism of the earlier guideline, as well as reporting from the New York Times that the recommendation came from political appointees in the Trump administration. The Trump administration lackeys posted to the site—”if exposed to the Covid-19 virus and show no symptoms you need not get tested.” I guess this comes from the presidents theory that if you don’t test, the numbers of people that have the virus goes down.
The CDC has modified and rescinded other scientific guidance within the last week about Covid-19 spreading through the air and that aerosol particles could travel over 6 feet indoors. No one has yet to claim responsibility for the changes, however they all comport to the desires Trump has to open schools, gyms, and indoor dining for political and economic reasons not for any public health reason. I go back to the lie theme, and in this case people may die.
