TRUMP’S GOVERNING PHILOSOPHY

I think I may have finally figured out the governing philosophy of Donald Trump.  Trump being both an economist and a business person he may be thinking governing the government as a business. Trump uses Milton Friedman’s philosophy that corporations should be left alone unabated in their pursuit of profit.  Government’s role was only to keep out of the way.

Trump applies the same governing philosophy by getting out of the way of business, by elimination of environmental restrictions.  In order to pull this off he must conveniently ignore science so corporations can maximize profits.  He also relies on Ronald Reagan when it comes to the size and his disdain for government officials and departments which do not follow him in lock step.

Trump is the one of the first republican to blatantly provide, without shame, corporate welfare during the pandemic.  The majority of the $2 trillion dollars in the initial PPP bill went to businesses and the majority of that to large corporations. That does not count the additional $3 trillion off the books in loans and grants to corporations funded by the FED and  acting like a bank, for the first time in it’s history, to provide liquidity in the markets.

Trump’s use of tariffs is unusual, creating a situation whereas China applied Tariffs on Soy beans and Trump applies tariffs on electronics and then Trump redistributes the tariff dollars consumers paid back to the farmers. So this is how Trump has the consumer pay for the farm welfare subsidy going to big AGRA and saying he saved the farmer. The Soy crop is only profitable in huge farm  tracts and Corporations produce the bulk of the crop. Just another form of corporate welfare.

Trump complains about socialism and social welfare, shame on him.  With social welfare you know where the money is going, it goes to food, shelter and medicine, whereas with corporate welfare the money goes to stock buybacks and executive salaries, yachts, and second homes in the Alps.  Corporate welfare is how Trump has managed to buoy the stock markets, and convince everyone the economy is doing great. (Only if you own stocks or have a 401K)

Corporations, if left alone,  would clear cut virgin forests, drill, frack for oil causing earthquakes and damage groundwater with chemicals, off gas methane, destroy environments, spill toxic waste with impunity, pollute ground and drinking water, pollute the atmosphere with toxic gasses, destroy the ozone layer that’s protecting everyone from UV light, all in pursuit by corporations for natural resources at the expense of the environment, public health, and the planet.

When you ignore science and let corporate interests rule all these things will happen.  These are the things the republicans being bought and paid for by corporate interests that have been allowed by reducing the restrictions on the environment.  This is done by corporate lobbyists and lawyers running the EPA with no interest in science or the environment appointed by Trump.

This administration is all about trying to privatize the government functions so as someone can make a profit.  The Steve Mnuchin was tasked by Trump in February to see what he could do to eliminate the Jeff Bezos Amazon shipping contract and privatize the USPS.  Betsy DeVos is providing funding for private for profit schools, including religious institutions.  Federal prisons are now being funded by the government and run by private institutions with little accountability.

What Trump has not learned, is the government is not a corporation and by treating it as such it savages resource and makes the future bleak.  This can be exhibited by the hills and mountains surrounding Tehran.  Once the mountains were lush with forests. After 2,500 years of civilization the mountains are now mostly baron. When I was in Tehran, the only trees there were those planted in straight rows in the hills.  Let that be a lesson.

With someone in the White House that only thinks about how he can be reelected at any cost, how he can enrich himself and his family, and how his appointed department heads are willing to bend to his will, we must all be prepared.  We have yet to see the dirty tricks that are yet to come.  Trump is like a cornered large lion pawing and awaiting for the time to strike.

If not reelected any clearance he may have had should be revoked.  The NYTimes article on his taxes prove this.  His businesses have been showing losses and he has loans outstanding, coming due within the next few years, of over $300 million what will he do to avoid or make concessions in lieu of payments, and to whom does de owe such large sums?

Everyone should ask themselves, are all those he had appointed on his staff that turned over and then turned on him, or worked for him and were convicted of crimes really lying about  his character, his honesty, his intelligence after their experiences in the White House?  How can you have a president that could be compromised?  Trump should not even be given any classified materials let alone Secret, Top Secret, NATO, and other compartmented Secrets.

I cannot see any socially redeeming value for the individual currently occupying the White House. To me he has beggared credulity.  I can only hope for taxpayer vindication with tax fraud charges, obstruction of justice counts listed in the muller probe, violation of the emoluments clause, and everything else that this scofflaw has perpetrated on the American public.
