Countdown 17 Days Until Election
TRUMP – OTHER OPINIONS
What do republicans say about the behavior of Donald Trump? Here are a few prominent republicans outwardly saying what many republicans say behind closed doors.
Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) criticized Trump in a town hall phone call with his constituents. Senator Sasse: “I’m not at all an apologetic for having fought for my values against his in places where I think his are deficient, not just for a republican, but for an American so the way he kisses dictators’ butts.”
“The United States now regularly sells out our allies under his leadership. The way he treats women, spends like a drunken sailor. He mocks evangelicals behind closed doors. His family has treated the presidency as a business opportunity. He has flirted with white supremacists. At the beginning of the COVID crisis, he refused to treat it seriously.”
“First he ignored COVID, and then he went into full economic shutdown mode. He was the one who said, 10 to 14 days of shutdown would fix this, and that was always wrong, and so I don’t think the way he’s lead through COVID has been reasonable or responsible. I’m now worried that if President Trump loses, as looks likely, that he’s going to take the Senate down with him.”
“I’m now looking at the possibility of a Republican blood bath in the Senate, and that’s why I’ve never been on the Trump train. It’s why I don’t agree to serve on his re-election committee, and it’s why I’m not campaigning for him.” His concern also was about the future when he said: “I’m worried that if President Trump loses , as it looks likely, that he’[s going to take the Senate down with him.”
This is a full indictment of his 4 years and this coming from an individual in a state that Trump won by 25% in 2016. These statements in his campaign call is a bold move. Where has he been for the last 4 years? This appears to be someone that thinks there is some redemption for the Republican party after Trumpism is burned in the ash pit of the cesspool he created. Does Ben Sasse have 2024 presidential aspirations? If so he should be careful Trump like any elephant has a good memory and trump if nothing else he seeks revenge at any cost.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) last week had also predicted a potential blood bath saying: “We could lose the White House and both houses of congress that it could be a blood bath of Watergate proportions.” Saying: “I don’t recall an election in my lifetime where the delta, the spread between those two was dramatic as it is and this makes this a very uncertain election.”
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christy (R) spent 7 days in intensive care. He said “I was wrong not to wear a mask” referring to his visits to the White House. Chris Christy was one of Trump’s debate coaches had this to say about Trump’s White House: “I believed that when I entered the White House grounds, that I had entered a safe zone, due to the testing that I and many others underwent every day. I was wrong. I was wrong not to wear a mask at the Amy Cony Barrett announcement and I was wrong not to wear a mask at the multiple debate prep sessions with the President and the rest of the team.”
He goes on: “I hope that my experience shows my fellow citizens that you should follow CDC guidelines in public no matter where you are and wear a mask to protect yourself and others….It is something to take very seriously. The ramifications are wildly random and potentially deadly. No one should be happy to get the virus and no one should be cavalier about being infected or infecting others.” Because his experience in intensive care is not like that of Trump’s the lesion that Christy has to share should be heeded.
John Kelly, former Trump chief of staff recently said this about Trump on CNN: “The depths of his dishonesty is just astounding to me. The dishonesty, the transactional nature of every relationship, though it’s more pathetic than anything else. He is the most flawed person I have ever met in my life”
The fleas appear to be jumping from the big dog. Trump is now having to play in Georgia, a state he had no problem with in 2016 after all it is the true red state of Georgia. His rally schedule shows he is in trouble with a number of state he won in 2016.
Once upon a time, if any republican had anything bad to say about the president or the White House they kept it to themselves. Not so much now with Trump’s poll number in dire position and his coat tails shrinking into little more of a vest, his party seems to realize its uphill climb.
The problem I see with the above rhetoric is the impact on potential voters. Do not be complacent thinking others will cure this pox. Like Smokey said only you can prevent his BS from its intended target, or something like that. Was it Smokey? Or maybe the smoke.
