HANGOVER DAY
TRUMP- THE LOSER?
Trumpism is here to stay with the close outcome of the election. This was not a knockout blow. Trump will not go quietly into this good night. The interregnum will be fraught with conflict and chaos to hide the misdeeds.
So much for Trump, by the end of today everyone should know the winner of the election. The loser is all of us. Trumpism is a mirror of society and what does that say about ourselves? I was curious yesterday why individuals voted for Trump. I have always been critical of our education system and how it has turned out to be a sitting service for working parents rather than teaching relevant meaningful subjects necessary for understanding how government works and our economic and political systems. Civics is necessary to learn of the governmental functions from local, to state, to the Federal system. logic is key to understanding truth from fiction and science to prove facts over observation.
I look at Trumpism as a cult with fringe followers that are only hanging on for their own benefit. Trump’s base is the white uneducated macho gun toting republican only clan that is with Trump all the way or what I call the Bobby Jindal base. Trumps followers included in fringe groupies are the throwback White Supremacists airing white grievance and racism. There are those with blinders on that see only the results of their 401K and tax breaks included is part of the selfish deplorables as Hillary would say.
Of all the categories the only vote republican with blinders on I would hope would be the bulk of the above voters. I say this because I cannot believe that the 20% of the population that voted for Trump are all racist, xenophobes, patriarchal misogynists, or live in an alternate world bubble where Trump’s lies are seen as the truth. The Trump groupies that cling on to every word at his rallies are members of the Trump Kool-Aide cult of camp followers and admiring fans of his daily reality show.
In an Op-Ed piece by Nicholas Goldberg in the Los Angeles Times makes my point. The article “Even if he loses, Trump has won.” He goes on to say that it was mind boggling that millions voted for him knowing what they know. His premise is that trump has won because of the legacy he leaves behind will last for a long time. He has divided us even further, sown doubt on the veracity of the election process, turning advisories into enemies, undermined our democratic institutions and has convinced us we are cheating on each other. What could go wrong? With 20% of the total population voting for Trump is this who we really are? I don’t know the answer. The votes for Trump indicates the voter is ok with Trump’s self-dealing, bullying, and constant lying. The Op-Ed goes on to say that Trumps most egregious inaction was rejecting the science of climate change and describes it as “a crime against humanity”
Litigation is his first response to any conflict and this will not work. Chief Justice John Roberts has seen the potential for the court to render opinions that have sown distrust in the Judiciary in the Bush v Gore Florida intervention. Roberts in the past has stood up for the integrity of the court over any political stance. If asked Roberts may decline involvement in state election affairs. If the court does get involved the decision to count all votes may or may not be the result.
It is close and by this evening the results in key states will be in. Biden should pick up Nevada by today and Arizona should also be decided and Biden looks to be ahead. Georgia is trending for Biden and he has a chance to overtake Trump in that state. If Georgia or Pennsylvania go for Biden the game is over. If both AZ and NV go for Biden its over. All Biden really needs is PA and he wins, so Trump must get PA. All Biden needs is NV and AZ.
