RANT
In January, commerce secretary Wilbur Ross stated the Pandemic would be good for the economy. Huh? And in April, he is anxious and pressing the stable genius to restart the economy. Perhaps if Wilbur (the same name as the individual talking to Mr. Ed), is the individual talking to Trump, does that make Trump the stable animal genius Mr. Ed the talking horse? Of course? Of course! However, I always felt he more resembled a cross between an ass and a sow. In lieu of concentrating on the pandemic, the stable genius has weaponized his narcissism and his sycophants and continue to feed the bloviating barn animal in his daily rants. Enough with the niceties.
With the handouts to the corporations that pay little or no taxes due to Trumps tax bill passed last year and that continues to bleed the taxpayer with an added Trillion dollars to the debt, and the 2 trillion dollar give away, which only 500 million goes to those which will ultimately pay the bill, and the added 4 trillion dollars to give as loans and grants, the President has aptly called himself the king of debt. Unfortunately bankruptcy is not an option for the United States, however, inflation is, and it is the hope for anyone with a reliance on debt for credit purchases. The payback over time is significant. Take someone with large buildings collecting rent with a large debt. With inflation, the debt dollar payback for the owner stays the same at the same time rents skyrocket. My suggestion is that no one take out a variable interest loan in the near future. Who is the winner?
On a lighter note, it was made public that Marco Rubio (R) Florida has pledged to bailout churches and for the SBA go against their rules that forbid SBA loans to any entity that “principally engaged in teaching, instructing or indoctrinating religion or religious beliefs, whether in a religious or secular setting” from receiving loans. The $350 billion program is especially egregious because it gives out both loans and grants that are not necessarily paid back. Religious institutions are exempt from taxes and therefore a loan or grant that is not repaid is on the taxpayer, which as far as I know violates the 1st Amendment Establishment Clause. If given monies, where is the ability for them to repay since they are not taxed? Again this Presidency has managed to have the taxpayer pay more than once- the bailout and the giveaway.
I predict soup kitchens and individuals forced to sell homes and precious personal possessions in the near future. Prior to the pandemic 40,000,000 people were food insecure and had less than $400 in savings. Add 16 million unemployed and the potential going to 30-40 million unemployed. The crisis is unfolding and without leadership. Already 10,000 individuals have swamped the food bank handouts for the needy in San Antonio Texas. Without leadership, this country could come close to a total collapse of the social and economic structure, which could breed chaos. It is near mid-April and Trump has yet to understand that, in order for the economy to eventually come back, albeit slowly, we need testing. Still, the president has refused to make testing a priority. By politicizing the response, Trump will pick the winners and losers (one must kiss the horseshoe to get the support), which will have negative economic and human consequences.
It is astonishing that the richest country in the world is struggling to provide the basic necessity PPE and ventilators. Not enough PPE for first responders is an abomination and is an affront to common sense. In yesterday’s 2 hour bloviating festival, which the sycophants marched one-by-one the podium to make tribute to dear leader, when asked what metrics he would use to recommend opening back the economy, Trump pointed to his very big brain and said “that’s my metric”. This is an ill-advised ploy by Trump. This is one of the ripest of statements, considering the states, not the federal government, ordered the lockdowns. Trump recommends opening-up, the governors go ahead and it creates a new spike in cases. Then Trump blames the governors.
In the future, think of any venue you would go to, if you knew you would be exposed to a potential virus that no individual has initial immunity and has the potential to cause death to you and anyone around you that you infect. Would you go? That means theaters, concerts, sporting events, restaurants and any entity that can’t handle social distance measures will be a risk. All these venues and any labor supporting these venues are going to suffer and most likely fail, if wide spread testing is not available (testing in the 100’s of millions). Thus my admonition of soup kitchens and widespread foreclosure and home sales will likely come to pass.
