TIMELINE

To start, let me state Pandemics are one of the worlds scourges that have re-occurred in history and has restructured society.  Bill Gates in 2014 stated that pandemics not wars are the biggest danger to world stability.  This proclamation is currently used as a conspiracy theory that basically states Gates foundation had the virus made up so that he could dominate the world health systems.

Today is again the shortsightedness of the reality show host with his daily regurgitation of misinformation, deflection, propaganda and, projection.  His current foil is the WHO.  In January, the WHO was indifferent and had praised China for its transparency. Trump at the same time, did the same and stated he had good conversations with Xi. I believe this was happy talk, as he is currently in trade negotiations with China and is desperate to have an agreement prior to November elections.  Therefore he can’t irritate China or his bad self-serving trade deal won’t materialize.

By 11 February, WHO was concerned and stated it was more severe than the common flu and its transmission rate was concerning.  In late January WHO was still apprehensive and stated that countries should prepare due to its transmission rates.  Trump was consumed with his trip to Davos meeting with world leaders, and to India to meet with Prime Minister Modi.

 In February it was known that this was a new virus with easy transmission and no one has any antibodies or immunities to the virus so in February HHS had recommended to Trump to close schools’ other recommendations for social distancing so Trump made the recommendation 3 weeks later. 

His apparent lack of attention was more likely a sole focus on how he could benefit both financially and politically with the pandemic while at the same time spiting his enemies.  By de-funding rather than attempting to improve the WHO, says a lot.  He is willing to destroy the only organization that works world-wide to locate and inform of the potential virus outbreaks.  So he is willing to endanger the world for his vanity in order to punish rather than improve so Nero can deflect from his own actions. 

Testing delayed by CDC due to contamination in test kits, delayed the possibility of testing by 4 weeks, and so Trump can’t blame his own government can he?  The CDC violated its own protocol in the development of the tests which caused the contamination and then halted the tests.  This caused the CDC to stat over and Trump called out the states to develop their own tests.  Trump promised quick approval of tests.  This created tests that were not reliable, in that out of 70 tests developed ½ were ineffective and would cause both false positives and false negatives. 

The fallacy of the Trump guidelines for the re-opening of the economy are apparent when you read that you must have a decline in cases over a period of time, in order to partially open in Phase 1.  How do you know if the number of cases are declining for any period unless you can test?  The next roadblock will be contact tracing. This is a requirement for total re-opening.  This takes an army of personnel that do not now exist and will require the training and recruiting the army.  Who pays for and equips this army with PPE?

A new concern is that Korea is finding that 2% of those infected with the virus are testing as positive after recovery.  This is concerning to me in that if it is found that antibodies may not have a lasting effect in the body and they may degrade quickly.  If this is the case the only remedy is a vaccine that could take as long as 2 years.  If the vaccine depends on antibodies for it effectiveness then that could increase the time for the development of the cure if the antibodies degrade quickly.   That’s all folks!
