THE PAYROLL PROTECTION AND REALITY

The Payroll protection relief bill was not intended (in concept) for large corporations to benefit, as it was intended for small businesses that do not have the assets to retain their key employees.  That being said 2/3rds of the first relief bill was swept up within days by publicly traded corporations (big businesses).  Big retail companies like Macy’s Nordstrom’s, Neman Marcus are all struggling.  All these big stores were already in trouble due to on line shopping.  Does the public bail out these stores that may not ever recover?  We are living in a self-induced economic coma.  Coming out of the coma will change the retail picture dramatically, with shopping malls no longer in existence and shopping will be on line and delivered. 

Donald Trump can be labeled as an international bio-terrorist.  He released back to Mexico 15 individuals with the Corona-19 virus.  His insistence on the focus of illegal persons is a cat like laser light distraction from his inadequate response to the virus.  He surround himself with all the professionals and still relies on his stable geniusness (Horse sense) to make decisions that are self-serving and he ignores the general public.  He is in constant election mode and ignores issues of state.  Because he is in election mode, he has become the us-vs-them president (same as usual) and uses the bully pulpit to shame, create decent and divide. He never leads.  His constant election mode was evident when, within his first week in office, he registered a re-election committee.

The United States depends on consumption and has been adverse to sustainability.  The coronavirus has shown how the planet can heal without the consistent pouring of pollutants spewing into the environment.  Trump was the only leader to bow out of the Paris climate accords out of the 196 countries, that were signatories to the non-binding agreement.  This paragraph is my contribution to today’s earth day.

When it comes to testing, Trump is not willing to take the sage advice of his own appointees.  He ignores science, ignores and distorts the truth and lacks willingness to pursue any intellectual avenue, as he thinks he knows best.  He sows division and he deceives and projects.  It is always about him, not about the palpable consequences.  He excoriates Virginia, Michigan, and Maryland for not liberating the residents from Covid-19 and thus going contrary to the published guidelines, as these are Democratic governors, the only purpose of sowing division, has the potential of creating an outbreak of the virus.  This comes last Friday prior to the weekend demonstrations.  Wednesday Trump chided the governor of Georgia (R) for giving orders to open their economy for massage parlors, beauty salons, bowling allies and other entities that can insure social distancing by this weekend.  Georgia is still not meeting opening criteria.  Georgia can’t even meet the phase 1 criteria, which states that there should be a 14 day decline in cases. Non-essential businesses still are to remain closed until phase 2 and they haven’t passed stage 1 yet.
