TRUMP’S SECOND TERM PLATFORM
Ok, what is the agenda of the Republican Party? Look at the 2016 platform that was adopted word for word buy the Republican Party for Trump’s 2019 campaign. This even included a statement that had the objective to oust the sitting president. Does this mean its 4 more years of the same divisive rhetoric, the lunacy of constantly needing the attention like a child. Within the last 3 months Trump has been asked what he wants done in his second term. Trump seems to enjoy running on slogans and has little knowledge of details or ramifications of his actions.
Sean Hannity of Fox conspiracy channel asked if he would list his priorities and he stumbled and could not answer that softball and his response was “One of the things that will be really great-you know, the word ‘experience’ is still good. I always say talent is more important than experience. I’ve always said that. But the word ‘experience’ is a very important word. It’s a very important meaning.” The interview went downhill from there.
In a do-over in another interview by Eric Bolling of Sinclair Broadcasting, a few days had passed and Trump was asked “What will be your focus if voters give you another term?” Trump responded, “It’s very simple, We’re going to make America great again. We rebuilt the military; we have a ways to go. We’ve done things for the Vets like nobody’s ever seen. We can do even more. Economic development, jobs, trade deals, we’ve got to bring back manufacturing…we want to build our own ships. So we have a lot of things we can do.“ Generalities and non-specifics and no plans or programs offered.
In an article by a Wall Street Journal he only offered just one priority it was ”building a strong and powerful economy” No specifics no plans no agenda other than winning in November then what?
Republicans are even critical of his lack of agenda. Rich Lowry of the conservative National Review asked, “What would Trump do with a second term?” Rich concluded, “At the moment, not only does no voter know the answer to that question, Trump himself has no idea”
Prepare for more of the same if he is re-elected.
“Make America Great Again” is a slogan on your cap not a plan. Generalities are not planning, slogans are not planning. Anyone want to move to Canada?
PROPAGANDA AND SCHOOLS
The Trump administration has threatened schools that receive federal funding. Trump tweets about the “radical left indoctrination”, but Trump is not permitted to revoke tax status based on ideology. The push for this ability could stem from the Department of Education by Betsy DeVos, allowing religious institutions obtaining federal funds. Does Trump want to say which religions receive the monies? There are some that think every religion is left bent and includes indoctrination. Does Trump want the ability not to allow Muslim institutions? Guidance from the IRS for tax status lays out types of activities that could jeopardize nonprofit status. They include lobbying, political activity, and straying from the organizations stated purpose. None of the restrictions include ideology.
Trump’s tweets single out the liberal universities that are “bastions of liberalism that stifle conservative ideas.” I cannot help think Trump’s action is as a result of MIT and Harvard sewing his administration to let foreign students stay and use remote classes. The lawsuit argues the promise from ICE to suspend limits around on-line education for the duration of the emergency.
TIME TO PAY UP
The unemployment $600 bump ends at the end of July. This is unfortunate for the unemployed and need to pay rent. It was reported 1/3rd of all mortgage and rent payments were missed for July. Those that relied on landlords to hold off eviction was only made possible by the banks deferring landlords loan payments for 6 months. This as well as the moratorium on rent when lapsing will create a perfect storm of foreclosures, evictions, homelessness, and misery. August and September may be the worst of the pandemic along with bad economic news to create a perfect storm.
TRUMP’S 2-DAY LASER LIGHT SHOW
The media is making a big deal about Trump for wearing a mask, for two days. Why celebrate when he has consistently scoffed at their use? Donald thinks it makes him look weak, the real message is he does not care about anyone else. He gets a test for someone sneezing in the next room. He can show no fear as a result of his germaphobia and constant testing.
Medical experts say it is essential to slow the spread and to wear a mask and social distance. Trump by not making the making a macho statement has politicized a public health crisis. In a normal world, the President would provide leadership that would get everyone participate in doing whatever for the common good and not try to pit Republicans against Democrats. Politicizing of a public health crisis is not a good look for the administration.
