I WANTED TO BE A CHEERLEDER
When asked why he diminished the danger of the pandemic in the beginning, he responded “I wanted to be a cheerleader for the country”. Workers are going back to work, when asked about testing Trump responded, ”they should have no problem getting tested”. Yeah right.
Since the rumor of the disbanding of the Pence pandemic response team, there is conjecture that it was because POTUS no longer needed his props for the daily the misinformation circus show. Is this the best time to disband the task force? Is this action saying “mission accomplished”? How does the country move forward? It’s each of the governor’s problems now. Trump provided the ability to test without all the tools, such as, swaps and re-agents for analysis, and support for contact tracing recruitment and training along with financial support for the many minions required.
What will happen in the rush to re-open? The danger sign is the continued upward trend in deaths per day, when you exclude N.Y. City from the equation. We have been lied to about the death toll since the beginning, with under count. Are the actions to re-open a real opportunity for the virus?
The virus will wait us all out. Someone in the administration stated we are all at war and the deaths are just casualties of that war. Perhaps less than 1% potentially have immunity everyone else is venerable. Heard immunity is reached with approximately 60%. The virus seems to be most potent where there are close quarters such as housing projects, prisons, and nursing homes.
ONCE TWICE THREE TIMES A FAILURE
When it comes to the pandemic, Trump has missed the mark, or should I say he has been a complete failure. Let’s first take leadership. He offloaded responsibility to 2 pandemic response teams, one led by Pence and another by Kushner. The Kushner team had a covey of volunteer friends from the investment banking and other non-health/virus related fields. They became involved in procurement of PPE, having no experience in procurement, supply chain, and logistics and became a hinderance to the efforts by the other team and FEMA. Trump not only abdicates the Federal response, he then says to the states in a real leadership type way: “You’re-on your-own.” His thinking must be, the government is only responsible as a backup in a national emergency. He puts out guidelines and within a day, encourages states to violate the same guidelines and implores them to open (LIBERATE…) tweet. Now that’s real leadership.
The political downturn in his ratings are as a result of distrust sown by this president. When Reagan said that the government was the problem and the Republicans wanted it so small they could drown it in a bathtub. Trump, wanting to show that the government is bloated, began trying to solve the problem and began dismantling the administrative state. He filled department heads and temporary heads with unqualified individuals he met at Mar-a-Lago and contributors and people he meets at rallies. What could go wrong? This becomes a self-fulling prophesy that the Republicans also have in their mantra is that- the government is incompetent and private industry is the only solution for any problem. Using the pandemic as a cudgel against the states during a pandemic, is also a new low even for this president. Twice
Trump’s half-assed response to the pandemic illustrates his total lack of attention, knowledge, and he shows absolutely no medical acumen. Disinfectants ingested, internal UV light, quack cures such as hydroxychloroquine, and other non-scientific quack science that is untested. He continues to encourage opening up the economy knowing the potential loss of life as a result of premature opening of states that have not met the guidelines. Three times.
He is once a failure at leadership, a political failure (look at polls), and as a medical expert. Thus once , twice, three times a failure. I hope its three strikes your out!
Trump lacks empathy, humility, confidence, and leadership. He is only a reality clown show, snake oil salesman. When the country needs a leadership, we get a coward that only wants to blame others for his ineptitude and lack of preparedness. Our enemies applaud his efforts to be divider in chief pitting red and blue state governors against one another and using intimidation to gain the false narcissistic ardor. It’s like Trump is channeling his inner Putin.
