TRUMP AND CURES

One of the therapeutics Trump has claimed had cured him is a Regeneron Pharmaceuticals product. The CEO of Regeneron is the home to the two highest-paid pharmaceutical executives as of 2020.

In October 2017, Regeneron made a deal with the US-government Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority that the government would fund 80% of the costs for Regeneron to develop and manufacture antibody treatments, including now their Coronavirus disease 2019 treatments, and Regeneron would retain the right to set prices and control production. This deal was criticized in the New York Times. Such deals are not unusual for routine drug development in the American pharmaceutical market.

I ask why allow price gouging when the taxpayer pays 80% od R&D?  The military contracts require recoupment when marketed overseas to recover investment.  How does the FDA recover taxpayer funding? And why agree to such onerous terms as the ability to set price and control production?  Who took the contribution or bribe for this contractual mismanagement?

On February 4, 2020, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which already worked with Regeneron, announced that Regeneron would pursue monoclonal antibodies to fight COVID-19.

In July 2020, under Operation Warp Speed, Regeneron was awarded a $450 million government contract to manufacture and supply its experimental treatment REGN-COV2, an artificial “antibody cocktail” which was then undergoing clinical trials for its potential both to treat people with COVID-19 and to prevent SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection. The $450 million came from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), the DoD Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense, and Army Contracting Command. Regeneron expected to produce 70,000–300,000 treatment doses or 420,000–1,300,000 prevention doses. “By funding this manufacturing effort, the federal government will own the doses expected to result from the demonstration project,” the government said in its July 7 news release. Regeneron similarly said in its own news release that same day that “the government has committed to making doses from these lots available to the American people at no cost and would be responsible for their distribution,” noting that this depended on the government granting emergency use authorization or product approval.

In October 2020 when U.S. President Donald Trump was infected with COVID-19 and taken to Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, he was taking the regimen while clinical trials had not yet been completed and the drug had not yet been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration(FDA)). On October 7, Trump posted a five-minute video to Twitter reasserting that this drug should be “free.” That same day, Regeneron filed with the FDA for emergency use authorization. In the filing, it specified that it currently had 50,000 doses and that it expected to reach a total of 300,000 doses “within the next few months.” End of Wikipedia.

My observation is this, take hydroxychloroquine as an example, or his pension for any miracle cures his goal is only to make it through the day and he will say anything he can to kick start the real economy, not the economy of the rich in the stock market.  This is a yet to be a proven therapeutic and by shortcutting the process you may not be getting what was advertised. Trump’s pension for quack cures and miracle cures may have struck again.  The only rationale I can think of for administrating the drug to the President is it is human origin and does not pose a health risk.  It is experimental, and prior to the President there were only 10 others receiving the emergency therapy.  His euphoric youthful feeling is the steroids and have nothing to do with the “cure.”  He is acting desperate to shine the light anywhere except on his Covid-19 response.

His behavior over the past week has been extraordinary for anyone that should be in total quarantine.  His actions are that of an individual incapable of understanding basic health precautions for everyone around him.  The quarantine period for anyone his age that has been hospitalized and is in obvious Covid-19 pneumonia stress is 20 days for him hot to shed the virus and cause a contagion.  He may even test negative using the current rapid test.  His rhetoric reeks of an individual on steroids claiming youth and vigor.  August 25^th was the last time Mitch McConnell was at the White House to protect himself from the Covid-19 cesspool with individuals without masks and no social distancing rules.

The basis of the drug used by Trump is antibodies developed using aborted fetus cells.  Does anyone see a potential problem with the far right using aborted fetal cells?  Currently the only fetus cells in use today are replicated from those made available prior to the ban in the 1970’s.  I have heard of this conundrum for years. These antibodies are only effective as those of a 50 year old due to the age of the strains.  The problem becomes more dire when you now need to produce the drug for hundreds of millions of individuals.  It is a known fact that replication of these type cells over time, just like all immune all cells, degrade the effectiveness of the product and therefore a new vibrant strain introduction is always necessary? 

Where will all the new aborted fetuses come from after the ban in the 70’s on using aborted fetus cells.  What if  Roe vs Wade is struck down? How will the party of stupid react when there is a clarion call for aborted fetal tissue to support Trump’s claim that everyone will have the treatment.  This is what Karma looks like.
