In this case it’s not life imitating art it’s Trump’s name applying an action prefix and the result is a definitions which aptly defies the actions of the individual. This reinforces the term Trumpettes as a name for his followers. Their actions can now be called trumpery. How apt for the Dotard in chief to live up to the definition. He may have read the definition and thought it was a script character for his reality show.
I have always wondered about the solid base Trump seems to demonstrate. There are always be those who see the (R) behind the name and that’s all they need. I call these the base right wing conservatives that would vote for any (R).
Then there are the ill-informed Trumpettes that wonder through the tweeter sphere and listen to talk radio and Fox disinformation, propaganda, and conspiracy channel. These are hardened and have no hope for redemption including the White Nationalists. These individuals have problems signing their X. After all it is the party of stupid.
Then there are those Trumpettes that actually believe Trump has made significant policy achievements. They cite his achievements on the trade deals, the economy, Tax reform, ISIS, standing up to Iran, withdrawing troops, and Afghanistan peace talks. These are individuals not looking out for their self-interests if they would only look into Trump’s claims.
On Trump’s trade deals, they were meant to reduce the U.S. Chinese trade deficit. The size of the trade deficit is near the same as it was when Trump took office. Farmers suffered as a result of the tariff levied. Chinese electronics prices were also increased as a result of his policy his efforts fell flat. This action also generated corporate socialism with payments to foreign companies operating in the U.S. via bailouts.
The economy prior to the pandemic for the first 3 years of Trump compared to the last 3 years of Obama show little difference in rise of GDP. Trump claims to have created the greatest economy ever. Of the last 11 presidents he registers 7th in GDP growth during their administrations.
Unless you make over $250,000 and are part of the top 1% in income you did not and will not benefit from the Tax reform. I am nor sure if the party of stupid that is comprised of the less educated can continue to pull the wool over the eyes of his constituents.
ISIS is not dead. ISIS is a group of former Iraqi soldiers that were formed as a result being driven out of the military by the Bush invasion. These are Sunni soldiers wanting their own homeland as a caliphate. The desires for a home are not eliminated by withdrawal it has only gone underground and remains a threat in the region and beyond. Iraq remains a majority Shiite country with a leaning toward Iran also being Shiite.
If imposing sanctions on Iran is standing up to Iran, I would say hogwash. The withdrawal from the Obama Nuclear agreement had ulterior motive. Westinghouse was attempting to sell nuclear power plants to Saudi Arabia. Saudi had stated they were not interested unless Iran were to develop a nuclear weapon capability. Iran was in compliance with the agreement and the other signatories have ignored or have gone around Trump’s sanctions. If the rational for support is the killing of the Iranian General Soleimani a Shiite head of the Quds force it is misguided. The general was in Bagdad at the behest of Barham Salih to attempt a peace deal. The rationale used for killing him was a result of an attempt at retaliation for a rocket attack on the Green Zone. It was found that an abandoned rocket launcher used in the attack was owned by a Sunni fighter most likely ISIS.
The withdrawal of Troops from Germany is a gift to Putin. He has redeployed some forces however the fear is his lack of understanding of the mission in Germany. This goes along with Trump’s NATO disengagement desires. The German troops are there as logistical and medical support center for all of Africa and the Middle East.
His withdrawal of troops is curious at best. Republicans always loudly objected to Obama advertising withdrawal of troops. The republican rationale was always that the enemy will wait you out then take over again requiring a reinsertion. The Afghan Peace Talks are an example of letting the enemy off.
There is one explanation in the ether for the Trumpery it’s confirmation bias. This action distorts evidence based decision making where facts no longer matter. Science is discarded for opinions that are confirmed and repeated in the gaslight. Trump feeds the trumpets with a steady flow of tweets and public statements.
There is also the potential that the Trumpettes are racists. There are the White Supremacists that distribute hate. The hate for Black Americans, immigrants, strong women, and Liberals. Once xenophobia and prejudice hate enters the brain, the rationalization for any action can exist. This reaction is the dark side of human nature. If this bias cannot be dealt with and understood it will always re-occur.
The demographical changes are being exploited as a rationale for fear mongering. These are the echoes of the confederacy and a “lost cause” syndrome in their attempt to maintain a culture characterized by white predominance. Trumpettes feel he is the last great hope and the only thing stopping a cultural wave from sweeping the country. Because of this it makes no difference what kind of person he is, or the specifics of the policies he enacts, or even the level of incompetence he displays, as long as he gives the impression of holding back the tide.
